- If you're a person that has lived on the east coast mostly all of your life.. and thought that California was the land of sunshine and beautiful people.. (thanks to the countless tv shows depicting Orange County) well, you're only half right.. it's not the case up here in North California. And this is how i'm experiencing it.

I'll miss San Francisco the most..
How to travel on flights with a fish in-hand.
So how does a person manage to go through TSA at the airport carrying a fish in liquid that's more than 3.4 ounces?
We'll, i could put that fish of mine (which is relatively small) in a little 3.4 oz bottle through security and TSA, and then place it in a larger container with water conditioner afterwards.
..But that's too complicated.
So.. The other option is to directly ask TSA personally with plenty of time to spare before your flight to make sure you can get your fish through.
What you will encounter during check-in at the airline counter is the attendants being all bitchy about how much liquid you can carry through security (depending how knowlegable they are, and they probably aren't). And they'll mention that it has to be checked in. Don't be stupid by resorting to that because your fish will probably explode due to the unpressurized cargo container when you're in the air.
Screw them and ignore whatever they say because it's only going to increase your level of stress. And it's pretty high already if your the one flying with that fish alone or with your family.
Go to TSA and talk to them.
They (and you) should know that fish in liquid can be carried only if it's in an unsealed fishbowl container. An example of an unsealed container of liquid would be something like a snowglobe. Go ahead and get TSA to bring out their rule books if they're giving you trouble. Don't stress them out! You'll only make things worse. So it's better to go through security before the long lines.
So once Billabong was allowed to go through, i held him in my hands as i went through the metal detectors. One of the TSA attendants hovered a little chemical test strip over the fish container for any noticable fumes (in my H2O, lol).
So yeah. He's through and on the plane between my thighs in my seat. He'll chill on the seat table once we're in the air.
You'll get lots of looks from other people during your trip. Which is weird, since you normally dont bring fish on flights. But now you know that it can be done.
:)
Also, if you're bringing carry-on's.. Make sure they aren't too heavy for you to bring around during stopovers and running to the terminals. You do need one arm & hand to carry your fish container.

Aloha from Hawai'i!
i pretty much explored the entire big island. from the snow peak of Mauna Kea. to the volcanic crater of Kilauea. even the current volcanic flow of Pu'u 'O'o. soo cool. and of course the fabulous beaches. went boogie boarding on the big waves. snorkeling in the reefs. i just came back from one and even recorded me swimming with a big sea turtle. yes, i had a digital waterproof camera handy. pretty sweer device too.
so yeah.. monday's my last full day and ill be leaving back for north cali tomorrow afternoon. not too excited about that. but i am excited to show off the awesom photos i took during the trip.
anyways.. hope everyone is doing well.. my next big trip is next month when i move to the Virginia Beach area :)
